Snow Day

Years ago I tore my ACL, twice, skiing. Because of this and after moving to Kelowna from the Kootenays I took a long break from downhill skiing. Last year I decided to try and learn to snowboard in order to get back out on the hill. I then gave up trying to learn to snowboard because I was tired of falling and hurting myself in other ways. This is all to say it’s perfectly okay to quit things if it’s not the right fit for you. It’s also okay to go back to something you once loved after a break. This year I’m giving downhill skiing another shot and have loved my time at Big White. I definitely don’t ski as fast or take as many risks as I used to. I’ve just been enjoying the slower more quiet runs and looking at all the pretty trees along the way. So this painting is inspired by those trees
